A Vision Rooted in Character and Craft
When interior designer Frederiek Van Pamel and Kenny & Mason joined forces, the goal was clear: create a space where every element, from grand gestures to refined details, would flow together in perfect harmony.
Captured through the lens of photographer Claude Smekens, this project reveals a rich interplay of textures, materials and mood — where functionality and artistry coexist beautifully.
Van Pamel is renowned for his bold, eclectic style — layered with personality, soul and unexpected contrast.
To fully honour that vision, Kenny & Mason were involved from the earliest design stages, allowing every product — standard, customised or fully bespoke — to be integrated with both aesthetic precision and technical elegance.
The Centrepiece: The Duke Freestanding Bath
For this project, The Duke freestanding bath by Kenny & Mason was selected — an iconic model known for its timeless shape and exceptional versatility.
With its oval silhouette and sculptural presence, it became far more than a functional object; it was positioned as a visual anchor in the space, carefully placed to establish balance and rhythm within the room.
The interior of the bath was finished in brushed brass, while the exterior was given a charcoal black coating — a striking combination that echoes the contrasts often found in Frederiek Van Pamel’s interior work.
Yet the true strength of The Duke lies in its customisation potential. This bath can be made to order in a larger size, with an alternative base design, or even in a completely different shape or finish, depending on the client’s vision and the spatial context.
The decision to use this particular model was not purely aesthetic. Thanks to the bespoke options offered by Kenny & Mason, the bath could be tailored exactly to the proportions of the room, the desired flow of movement, and the overall visual narrative that Van Pamel envisioned.
It was this level of detail and flexibility that allowed the bath to feel fully integrated — not as an addition to the space, but as a defining element of it.
Tailored Taps for Natural Stone Basins
Special attention was given to the washbasin area, where natural stone bowls required carefully proportioned brassware to achieve both visual and functional harmony. To ensure the water flow aligned precisely with the contours of the stone, the taps were custom-heightened.
The necks were elongated to meet the exact specifications needed for a seamless interaction between form and function. Further refinement was found in the choice of the Barbara Lever handle, a classic yet distinctive detail that added character and elegance.
In this project, separate hot and cold taps were selected to reflect a more traditional aesthetic. However, the same design is also available in a single-mixer version, offering a contemporary option within the same stylistic language.
The brushed brass finish of the taps was matched to both the freestanding bath and the towel radiator, maintaining a consistent material palette throughout the room.
Thanks to this level of precision and attention to detail, the taps became an integral part of the overall design, not just practical elements but essential contributors to the atmosphere and identity of the space.
Seamless Integration from Concept to Craft
Radiators are often treated as afterthoughts, but not here. The wall-mounted towel radiator, finished in brushed brass, was custom-built to reflect the proportions and tone of the space, ensuring that even the most functional elements felt intentional and refined.
Its dimensions were tailored to the specific layout, with options available in height, width and number of bars, and in electric, hydronic or dual-fuel formats.
The result is a radiator that not only delivers warmth but visually contributes to the overall atmosphere, becoming part of the same design language as the bath and brassware.
Every product in this project, from the freestanding bath to the custom taps and radiator, was selected not simply for its standalone beauty but for its ability to support the integrity of the entire space.
Close collaboration with the interior designer allowed us to align all elements in visual rhythm and proportion, unify the materials and finishes, and ensure that each functional piece also carried aesthetic value.
Frederiek Van Pamel’s interiors are known for their orchestrated eclecticism, where bold choices and layered textures come together with remarkable cohesion.
Our role was to make sure that the brassware, baths and radiators did not merely fit into this vision, but actively elevated it.
